Electric pour-over kettle

This is a pre-order. It ships on 15 November. We send it from the roastery on that date, with the first stock to arrive.

Different coffees like different water. A light Ethiopian opens up at 96 °C; a dark roast is gentler at 88 °C. This kettle from Ridgeline heats to the temperature you set, to the degree, and holds it while you weigh and grind.

• Temperature control: 40 to 100 °C in steps of 1 °C, on a dial in the base with a small display
• Hold: keeps the water at your setting for up to 30 minutes
• Capacity: 900 ml
• Spout: a thin gooseneck for a slow, steady pour
• Power: 230 V, 1 200 W, with a South African three-pin plug
• Materials: 304 stainless steel body, powder-coated in matte black or cream; the inside is bare steel
• Dimensions: the kettle is about 18 cm tall and 29 cm from handle to spout tip; the base is 17 cm across
• In the box: the kettle and the heating base with its cord
• Care: wipe the outside with a damp cloth; never put the kettle or the base in water. Descale once a month in hard-water areas.

Where to set it

• Light roasts: 94 to 96 °C
• Medium roasts: 92 °C
• Dark roasts: 88 to 90 °C
• Green and rooibos tea: 80 °C

The kettle lifts off the base, so you can pour without a cord in the way.
