Gooseneck kettle 1 L (stovetop)

Pour-over is mostly about the pour. A gooseneck spout lets the water out in a thin, steady stream, so you can wet the bed evenly and control the pace of the brew. This one heats on the stove and has a dial thermometer in the lid, so you know when to start.

• Capacity: 1 L; fill to the 800 ml line for the steadiest pour
• Materials: 304 stainless steel body and spout; a heat-resistant handle; the matte black is a powder coat over the same steel

• Dimensions: about 15 cm tall to the lid and 28 cm long from the handle to the tip of the spout; the base is 13 cm across

• Care: hand wash only; descale with a little white vinegar in water once a month in hard-water areas

How to use it

1. Fill to 800 ml and heat it on a medium flame, never on high with the kettle empty.
2. Take it off the heat at 92 to 96 °C for most light and medium roasts.
3. Hold the handle and let the spout do the work: tip it slowly, and the stream stays thin.

The handle stays cool on a small flame. On a large gas ring, keep the flame under the base and away from the handle.
