Tamper and distribution set

An even shot starts with an even puck. If the grounds are higher on one side, the water runs through the low side and the shot tastes sour and thin. This set gives you two tools: one to level the grounds, one to press them.

Details

• Sizes: 51 mm or 58 mm. Measure the inside of your basket across the top. The 58 mm set fits the Ridgeline Home Espresso Machine.
• Tamper: a flat 304 stainless steel base on a turned wooden handle
• Distribution tool: a steel base with four angled blades and an adjustable depth, in a wooden top that matches the tamper
• Dimensions: the tamper is about 9 cm tall; the distribution tool is about 4 cm tall
• In the box: one tamper, one distribution tool and a cotton cloth bag
• Care: wipe both clean after use and dry them; no dishwasher, which dries out the wood

How we use them

1. Dose the basket and tap the portafilter once on the counter.
2. Set the distribution tool on top and turn it two or three times. Set the depth once, so it just touches the grounds.
3. Hold the tamper level and press down firmly until the coffee stops giving. There is no need to lean your full weight on it.
4. Lift straight up, without a twist.
